Shaw Laney was only 9 years old when he was introduced to the wonderful Paso Fino Breed in 1981. He became a member of PFOBA the following year and started competing with the Grand National Show in Atlanta, GA being his second competition. Growing up in the 80’s, Shaw rode Hunter/Jumpers and other breeds, but the Paso Fino stole his heart. He began professionally training horses at the age of 16 and was fortunate to have been influenced by some of the top trainers in the industry that guided his progression as a Paso Fino trainer.
Shaw has served as Vice-President and President of the Piedmont region, as well as Piedmont delegate, and Chairman of the Professional Trainers Committee. Shaw was named the 2003 Trainer of the year and served as President of the Professional Trainers Association for several years.
Shaw currently owns and manages Cedar Lane Stable with his wife Brandy and their daughter Abby. The farm is located in Enoree, SC and is a full-service Paso Fino facility. It is with a great love and commitment to the Paso Fino breed that Shaw serves the Paso Fino Horse Association.
