Nelson L. DelValle comes from a family that has been deeply involved with Paso Fino horses for four generations. He began competing Paso Fino horses in 1987 in Puerto Rico when he was just 5 years old. Nelson became a member of PFHA in 1992. Throughout his youth, Nelson worked with Paso Fino horses alongside his family and alongside distinguished Paso Fino horse trainers in Puerto Rico and the United States.
Nelson’s Paso Fino horse training career began at the young age of 14. Since the beginning of his training career, he has had the privilege of working across the United States at some of the best Paso Fino Horse farms. Moreover, DelValle has been able to collaborate with multiple nationally and internationally known Paso Fino horse trainers, which has led to an expansion of his vast knowledge of Paso Fino horse training. His experience showing Paso Fino horses internationally, in Puerto Rico and Colombia, has enhanced his knowledge of showing and training Paso Fino Horses in various settings.
Since 2017 Nelson and his family have owned and operated DelValle Stables, a Paso Fino horse farm in Illinois. Through DelValle Stables, Nelson has continued to build upon his Paso Fino horse management knowledge.
Throughout his Paso Fino career, Nelson has won numerous National Championships and Grand National Championships. He has been awarded multiple High Point Trainer awards throughout his career. In 2011, Nelson was named Trainer of the Year by PFHA. DelValle has had the opportunity to mentor multiple youth riders and amateur owners ranging from age 3 to 80 years old. With Nelson’s mentoring and guidance, his mentees have been able to achieve excellent Paso Fino horsemanship and win National Championships themselves. Nelson has also served as a Director for the Ozark Empire for 2 terms.
With his extensive knowledge of Paso Fino horses, Nelson hopes to positively contribute to the PFHA executive committee.
